The DISCO symposium will open with a keynote address by the invited speaker. The rest of the first day will consist of 20–25 min presentations given by the invited participants, with audience questions following each talk. In the evening, a mixer will be held to bridge disciplinary boundaries by meeting with the invited participants of the co-occurring Physical Oceanography Dissertation Symposium (PODS).

The second day of the meeting will consist of further presentations by invited participants, ending the day with a discussion on topics for joint consideration by DISCO and PODS participants for the following day.

The third day of the symposium will allow time for the planned group activity between the DISCO and PODS participants, with all participants re-convening in the late afternoon for discussions with agency personnel regarding funding avenues, proposal-writing, and other topics.

On the final day of the symposium, the morning will be spent hearing the remaining presentations from invited DISCO participants. The afternoon will be spent hearing reports on the previous day’s group activities, in a joint session between DISCO and PODS participants. All invited DISCO participants are required to attend all symposium presentations and discussion groups.
